Sentimental Value Selected as Norway’s Oscar Entry

According to CinemaDrame News Agency, Sentimental Value, directed by Joachim Trier and starring Renate Reinsve, Stellan Skarsgård, and Elle Fanning, has been chosen as Norway’s submission for the 98th Academy Awards in the Best International Feature Film category.
The story of Sentimental Value follows an actress named Nora, played by Reinsve, and her sister Agnes, both grieving the loss of their mother. Meanwhile, their father—once a successful filmmaker—reenters their lives after a long absence with a screenplay, offering Nora the lead role. Nora declines, but soon after, her father meets a Hollywood star while in France.
Dreams and Facing War were the other contenders for Norway’s official Oscar entry. The Norwegian Oscar Committee, composed of representatives from the country’s film industry and chaired by the director of the Norwegian Film Institute, issued a statement describing Trier as a confident filmmaker who is “at the peak of his storytelling talent,” discovering “countless layers of human relationships” inspired by the great masters of cinema.
Sentimental Value will be released in the United States on November 7.
